St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School, Denver, CO
Date of Placement: Apr 21 2010St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Catholic School has approximately 350 families with 450 students at the school. The school has children ranging in age from 3 years old to 15 years old, participating in extra-mural athletics in the gym that brings players and their families from all around the city. The children also engage in physical activity on playgrounds to the east of the school. The school also has a yearly art show, open house and music concerts, plus plays, musicals, concerts, grandparent's day, and parent/teacher conferences that bring adult visitors of all ages.
SVdP is interested in implementing an AED device and program because we understand the importance of quick action in a heart arrhythmia in both children and adults. In the past year SVdP has had both an adult and a child collapse which alerted us on the need of having an AED. Additionally. Matt Perkins, a parent of a SVdP student and a parishioner was the God Father of Daniel Lunger, a 16 year old who passed away from an undiagnosed heart arrhythmia. The Daniel J. Lunger Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit partner of Kick Start My Heart.
Kick Start My Heart received the $750 "Pay It Forward" donation from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School in July 2009 and we implemented an AED in this facility in April 2010. The placement was made possible through a generous donation of the AED from local company, Gilead.
Kick Start My Heart purchased the necessary accessories to complete the standard AED placement package. Thank you Gilead for the AED which is one of three Philips AEDs donated by the company! Please check out the the Latest News section of the website for more information on this donation!
