Mandalay Middle School, Westminster, CO
Date of Placement: Mar 10 2008Mandalay Middle School serves approximately 450 students and also supports various community activities from the school gym, such as daily use for school, various practices in the evening (Gold Crown teams, City of Westminster, etc). However, the value of having an AED available in a school setting is all too apparent at Mandalay. Daniel J. Lunger was a student at Mandalay from 2002-2004. On August 23, 2006, Daniel died from cardiac arrhythmia. His cardiologist said that if an AED had been immediately available, it might have saved his life. The Daniel J. Lunger Memorial Fund was established in part to educate youth organizations and parents about cardiac disorders in youths.
Kick Start My Heart received the $500 "Pay It Forward" donation from Mandalay Middle School in December 2007 and implemented an AED in this facility in April 2008!
