Jefferson Academy Charter Elementary School, Broomfield CO
Date of Placement: Aug 31 2008Jefferson Academy Elementary School is a K-6 charter school which teaches the Core Knowledge Sequence. Jefferson Academy envisions a community of parents, teachers, students and educational and business leaders working together to create a learning environment that engenders growth in character, academic achievement, and the love of learning, resulting in responsible, productive citizens.
The school has a student enrollment of over 350 and a staff of over 65. The building is also used after school hours for scout meetings, performances, and full-school events, such as dances. The elementary school shares a campus with a middle school and high school, which serve over an additional 400 students and 45 more staff. As a charter school, Jefferson Academy also relies heavily on parent volunteer hours and on any given day numerous parents are present in our building.
Jefferson Academy's second grade Girl Scout troop initiated a school-wide fundraiser specifically to participate in the AED Pay It Forward program! The troop leader has a personal connection to the Daniel J. Lunger family, who are actively working to get AEDs placed in schools.
Kick Start My Heart received the $500 "Pay It Forward" donation from Colorado Springs Christian School in April 2008 and we have our training and implementation session scheduled for August!
