Heatherwood Elementary School, Boulder CO
Date of Placement: Nov 13 2008Heatherwood Elementary is a community school that draws people of all ages for different activities including intramural activities, neighborhood meeting, polling center, after school classes and clubs, fund raisers, sports practices on the fields and the Heatherwood Fun Run.
When asked about the benefits of AEDs, staff comment that "We know that AEDs are critical for increasing survival rates in cardiac arrest, especially in children. We would like to have an AED to increase the safety of our school".
Kick Start My Heart received the $500 "Pay It Forward" donation from Heatherwood Elementary School in 2007 and we formally presented the Philips AED to Principal, Larry Orobona and parent Jennifer Lieb, during the Kick Start My Heart fundraising event, May 19th 2007.
Shortly afterwards, the Boulder Valley School District selected Cardiac Science as their AED vendor for all their schools, which resulted in ongoing discussions regarding the vendor for the AED placement for Heatherwood through September 2008. Kick Start My Heart are pleased to announce that we have partnered with AED Everywhere, the local Cardiac Science distributor, to place an AED at Heatherwood during November 2008!
