In addition, parents and the larger local community regularly attend athletic and other extracurricular activities on campus. When asked why they contacted Kick Start My Heart regarding an AED donation, staff responded: "After listening to Rich Perse's presentation, we learned how easy it is to use an AED, that children are not immune to heart conditions and that survival rates jump from 6% to 75% if someone is shocked within 3 minutes of a collapse".
