Foothills Park & Recreation District, Denver CO
Date of Placement: Jan 28 2010Foothills Park and Recreation District was established on December 31, 1959 as South Jeffco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District and consisted of one park site. The District was renamed Foothills in 1970 and currently maintains forty-one developed park sites, three regional parks, eight community parks, twenty miles of trails and fourteen reservoirs/conservation areas totaling more than 2,250 acres of public park ground.
The District boundaries encompass about 28 square miles and serves a population of approximately 90,000 residents. Foothills offers over 4,000 classes and programs which include a wide variety of programs for all ages. This includes an adaptive baseball program involving 160+ athletes living with various mental and/or physical challenges, several in wheelchairs.
Given the number of high risk athletes, the number of spectators and the outdoor setting, Foothills feel that an AED is an important tool to have available on site.
Kick Start My Heart received the $750 "Pay It Forward" donation from Foothills Park & Recreation District in March 2009 and we implemented their AED in January 2010!
