Falcon School District - Transportation, Colorado Springs, CO
Date of Placement: Dec 21 2010The mission statement for Falcon School District 49 reads as follows: "To prepare students, in a safe and caring environment, to be successful, competent and productive citizens in a global society". This means that we must do everything possible as a District; to keep our students safe by providing them with the proper tools should an emergency situation arise.
In April 2010, the Transportation Department had a bus driver collapse from cardiac arrest. This has made the entire district aware of the importance of having the right tolls in the right place in case of an emergency situation.
This unit will be located in the Transportation Department, where approximately 5 transition students work in the transportation garage, in addition to various community activities which are hosted at the facility year round. What's more, open enrollment has just been centralized this part year, which impacts the Transportation Department as well as the Central Office, by having parents and children in these departments at any given time.
Kick Start My Heart received the $750 "Pay It Forward" donation from Vista Ridge High School in August 2010 and we implemented an AED in this facility in December 2010!
