Partnership with Daniel J. Lunger Memorial Fund

"The Daniel J. Lunger Memorial Foundation is proud to partner with HeartSmart and Kick Start My Heart to place AED's in as many Jefferson County and Colorado schools as possible.

When our son died in August of 2006, he was a physically fit young man and had been seen by doctors for annual check ups and sport physicals and a heart ailment was never detected. After his death and the ARVD diagnosis, we were told that if an AED has been immediately available it might have saved his life.

We placed AED's at Stanley Lake High School and Meyers Pool within a year of his death, hoping they would never need to be used. But, as you now know, the unit at Stanley Lake was used successfully just last month. It is essential that everything be done to keep our children safe and our priority to help get these units into the schools.  

To offset the expense for each school, the Daniel J. Lunger Memorial Fund will sponsor ten staff members per school for their required CPR/AED training of fours hours through HeartSmart and Kick Start My Heart. The Fund has earmarked at least $7500 towards this effort and can therefore assist at least 50 schools with their fundraising.
