The event that got us going!! Our first annual soccer fund raiser was a huge success by all accounts, especially since we put it together in less than 8 weeks!

Nigel Lock, founder and organizer of Kick Start My Heart, created the event vision while participating in a Landmark Education leadership program. Part of the coursework was to create a project that benefits the community (www.landmarkeducation.com).

Lock started sharing the vision with friends in the local community and was overwhelmed by the support and number of people contributing. Thank you to each and every one of you!!

We raised just over $10,000 in our first year and placed our initial AEDs in the local community, starting with Boulder Indoor Soccer and Boulder Valley Ice at Superior before branching out to Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, Pueblo, in early 2006.

The event was highlighted by the exhibition game between the Boulder Rapids Reserves and the CU Men's Club Team, narrowly won 14-11 by the Rapids, and our foundation was born into the local community!
